Wake Up, it's 2021
Any plans or goals for this year? Nope. Just finishing any WIPs I have left over. I have so many...god
Part of that is the Inktober 2020 sketchbook. I finished most of it last year; I have yet to do the double spreads. I'm currently testing how the scans look though:
...yeah, the dreaded blur. I'll keep trying to fix it
Also working on finally uploading the 2018 sketchbook, but that's pretty much it from me other than a few other new drawings here and there.
Surviving Inktober 2020 +Preview
This won't be much of a lengthy update. I'm just outlining my general plans for Inktober this year.
First off, I would say the best way to view art and updates (as they happpen) is on my Twitter and Instagram. It's easier for me to do it there, so if you're interested go check those out.
So I'm not forcing myself to drawing and posting every day. I feel like that's a trap I let myself fall into with previous years, just because "that's how you're supposed to do it"; plus my life is busy enough as it is. However, I'm committed to completing all 31 drawings before the end of the year, which is something I haven't done before (and probably for good reason).
I'm not using the official Inktober prompts again too, due to controversy I won't get into here. I already kind of make my prompts anyway based on what I want to draw, which brings me to my next point...
One thing I will do is introduce my original characters. I haven't really drawn them as often as I'd like to, so I feel like Inktober will be a great way to do just that. My current ratio of original stuff to fanart is 16 to 15.
I'll also start to scan and edit the 2018 Inktober sketchbook. And as mentioned in a previous journal, I'm working on Inktober videos too.
I haven't said Inktober so much in my life, I think. Inktober Inktober Inktober.
And I think that wraps up my thoughts for now. Again, it's easier for me to post updates elsewhere, so please look out for that. DeviantArt, even with all the changes, is not really efficient for me anymore.

Inktober, Videos, and...Anything Else
Hi guys, I figured an update seemed fitting. Here's what I plan on doing for the next few months, starting with what I'm prioritizing the most:
Inktober 2020: Despite the controversy, I still want to move forward with Inktober this year. (I won't be using the official prompts.) I want to prove to myself that I can do it, even if I can't finish it until December. Also plan on making videos about it, which brings me to my next point...
YouTube videos: I'm currently in the process of editing a speedpaint and filming the Inktober 2017-2018 sketchbook tour...or sketchbook tours?
10th Anniversary: I realize I'm way behind on this, and can't really say when my next drawing will be out. 2020's been rough.
Other stuff: Basically regular uploads. I decided not to give myself a set goal on this, but if I'm lucky I should be able to post something next week.
And that's pretty much it for my schedule. See you guys in October...
Future with DeviantArt
Hey guys, it's been a while since I made a journal entry. I kind of forgot about updating stuff here since I'm used to doing it elsewhere, but here it goes:
My future on DeviantArt...I gotta say, it looks really bleak. I've considered leaving for the past year, but once DA started making some changes through Eclipse, I thought it would be fair to give it another go. And nothing really changed.
I won't go into all my reasons here, but basically I haven't seen any growth. Compared to Instagram or Tumblr, I don't really see the appeal or a reason to use DA over anything else. I'll try and stay until the end of the year though, but even if there is actual change I kind of made up my mind already. It'll be hard to change it.
If you still like my art, I suggest just following me on Instagram and/or Tumblr instead. I update more frequently there anyway. Of course I will still post and update on DA anyway, but there's the option.
Hey guys, so it's been a while...long story slightly shorter, I wanted to get away from social media for a bit. Weeks turned into months. I liked that I was getting away from the toxicity of it all, but at the same time I stopped drawing regularly (except for contests).
I'm not sure if I finish the quota I made for myself earlier this year, per usual I guess. I do have a backlog of stuff I've been posting on my Instagram though, so I'll post all of that soon.
My 10th anniversary on DeviantArt came and went in October (I count the date I made my old account Nicktoongrl), but since I was busy with other stuff that month I'm doing it all now. I thought it would be fun to make a poll asking you guys what I should remake, and you can take it here! I'll redraw the top three choices. I'll be doing other drawings I selected, seperate from the list I made for everyone else, but again I thought it would be cool if everyone had some input.
And that's pretty much all the updates I have. But yeah, thanks for your patience, I can't wait to share all the stuff I've done over the break and then some.
